DISCOVERING THE GALLERY BY YOURSELF

 

Do you find that you are less and less ready to accept readymade explanations? Are you looking to find your own solutions in undisturbed solitude? The Museum offers the perfect place for some seclusion. Do you get the picture?

 

The publication "Let Me See – A Guide on Guided Tours" offers you a taster of some highlights from the Museum of fine arts collection while it summarizes the most important art historical styles and terms. (the book is for sale at the Museum Shop)

INTERACTIVE TOURS

 

We offer guided tours in the Permanent Collection as well as the Temporary Exhibitions. However there is also the possibility to arrange specially tailored thematic tours. Far from aiming to heap up information we focus on building the existing knowledge. We seek to provide a challenging as well as entertaining way to pass on information, while also highlighting the bigger picture and place the Works within the context of Art History.

CREATIVE WORKSHOP

 

This programme consists of an interactive guided tour focusing on a theme of your choosing which is then followed up by a creative session in the Education Department's workshop.


Suggested themes: All parts of the Permanent Collection, All Temporary Exhibitions, Hungarian History as told through Art, the History of the Buda Palace, The Relationship between Literature and the Fine Arts, Travel around the World, Heroes and Legends, Saints and Angels, Love and Passion; narrating Egyptian statues *

ANCIENT GREEK-ROMAN WORKSHOPS

 

This workshop consists of two parts: in the first segment the children partake in an Interactive Guided Tour focusing on four Ancient Greek artifacts from the Museum of Fine Arts Antique Collection. The exploration into the impact of Ancient Greek and Roman culture onto the History of Art will be reflected upon in the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery. The experiences and inspirations gained in the Gallery are then used in the second part of the workshop where the children are going to have the chance to create their own art works in the Museum Education Departments studio space.

 

Duration: 3–3,5 hours Age: 15–18 years

Maximum number of participants: 30 people Participation

Fee: below 15 participants 11.000 Ft/group, above 15 participants 15.000 Ft/group.

CONTESTS AND COMPETITIONS

This year our Competition gives the children the chance to learn more about the Heroes and Wars of the Greek-Persian realm. Through taking place in this Contest the children are able to discover the many facets of these two ancient cultures.

          Ancient Egyptian CollectionIn the Land of Osiris ››

 

According to tradition it was Osiris who taught the Ancient Egyptians about agriculture. Thus it was to this God that they owed ​​the very creation of their civilization. Pursuant to their faith it was through turning into Osiris that one could gain eternal life. Since this contest allows the students to fully immerse themselves in the world of the ancient Egyptians it justly was named after Osiris!

A VERY ARTY BIRTHDAY PARTY


Would you like to do things differently on your Birthday? Why not hold your Party at the Hungarian National Gallery? We can offer you and your friends a unique and unforgettable experience!

First you are going to discover the Works of Art through an interactive Guided Tour which is going to be fun, yet informative. Afterwards it is time to unleash your creative potential and craft your own Works of Art in our studio space. Last but not least it is Party time! Parents are asked to provide the cake and refreshments.
